Dover Oak,Flagship Brewing & Bronx Brewery New York

While visiting friends and family in New York City we took the ferry to Stanton Island.Had a beer at Jimmie Steiny's Pub.I had the hopy Flagship IPA and found out the Flagship Brewery was just down the hill past the National Lighthouse Museum. The talk at the bar was could Trump solve the pee pee problem.I thought the real problem was the lack of public toilets not who could use which  one.

Everything we sampled was solidly great beer, the roggenfest, the wee heavy, the american wit.I had a pint of the summer ale. http://theflagshipbrewery.com/

At the National Lighthouse Museum the local volunteers said we should not miss the Prison Ship Martyrs Mounument, the Cloisters Museum made of reassembled European Abbeys housing the Mets collection of Medieval Art and the Bronx's Little Italy. The Martyrs Monument is located in Fort Greene Park and commemorates  the death of 11,000 American prisoners starved to death on British ships in Wallabout Bay,Brooklyn.Arthur Avenue is the heart of Little Italy and the best place to have  Tres Leches and a cappuccino.

Since we were in the Bronx,we took the bus to 138th and Cypress and walked a few blocks to the Bronx Brewery Tap Room.

We sampled their american, belgian and rye ales.We tried the the sessions and decided to take a growler of belgian. The hospitality was great and the beers quality made for a great rainy afternoon!

Friend, guide and chocolatier extraordinaire Bo Wayne took us to to the Appalachian Trail Stop on the MTA Harlem Line. The trail took us past the Dover White Oak.This massive oak was fully mature long before George Washington was sleeping in this same valley.
